Heart of Gold Awards 2021

Our well established Heart of Gold Awards, facilitated through our social media channels, celebrate those in the rail industry who go the extra mile and make a real difference. The nominations and voting are by the everyday people who work in rail – giving them the opportunity to thank the colleagues they appreciate, value and who inspire them.

Key Dates

  • Official launch w/c 6th September
  • Nominations open until 30th September
  • Shortlist announced w/c 18th October
  • Winners announced w/c 8th November
  • Awards presented throughout November

 

This year we are elevating the awards to a new level - there will be 5 new categories, 15 shortlisted, 5 winners and sponsorship opportunities. Below are the categories available for sponsorship:

Lifetime Achievement Award- Sponsored by Abellio Rail Replacement

 

The Lifetime Achievement Award is for someone who has demonstrated their Heart of Gold throughout their career in rail. This person may be a mentor to others, a supportive figure, or even just a friendly face.

  • Nominees for this award would usually have worked in rail for at least 15 years

 

Team Award- Sponsored by Amaro

The Team Award is for an amazing group of people who all work in the rail industry. They work together, support each other and achieve amazing things as a group. You may wish to nominate:

  • Your own work team
  • A team you manage
  • A team of people who have fundraised together/ team of volunteers 

 

Rising Star Award- Sponsorship Available

The Rising Star Award is for someone who has made a big impact in a short space of time. This person is new to the Railway Family but has already displayed incredible acts of kindness and is inspiring others to do the same.

  • Nominees for this award would usually be within their first 5 years of working in rail

 

Covid Hero- Sponsorship Available

 The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the rail industry. The Covid Hero Award recognises someone who has shown resilience during this time of hardship. This person may have been personally affected by Covid, or may have simply made working during Covid more enjoyable for their colleagues and customers.

 

Going the Extra Mile Award- Sponsorship Available

The Going the Extra Mile Award is for someone who always goes above and beyond to make others happy. Whether it’s their amazing customer service, incredible community fundraising work, or even just their love of making people laugh- this person deserves to be recognised for their Heart of Gold.
