Heart of Gold Award Nominations

Heart of Gold Awards, hosted by Railway Benefit Fund, celebrates those in the rail industry who have made a real difference in their workplace or community. The nominations and voting are cast by the everyday people who work in rail, giving them the opportunity to thank the colleagues they appreciate, value and who inspire them. The RBF Heart of Gold Awards has six categories, listed below. Winners will receive a personalised Heart of Gold Award presented by our President Pete Waterman OBE.
Nomination Categories
Star Team Award –Sponsored by Amaro
The Team Award is for an amazing group of people who all work in the rail industry. They work together, support each other and achieve amazing things as a group while having a positive impact on their community.
Rising Star Award – Sponsored by Furrer + Frey
The Rising Star Award is for someone who has made a big impact in a short space of time. This person is new to the Railway Family but has already displayed incredible acts of kindness and is inspiring others to do the same. Nominees for this award would usually be within their first 5 years of working in rail.
Rail Hero Award – Sponsored by Freightliner
The Rail Hero Award recognises an unsung hero who has made a significant impact to the lives of their colleagues or their community. They may have overcome a personal challenge, gone the extra mile to support a colleague, or even saved a life.
Lifetime Achievement Award – Sponsored by Railpen
The Lifetime Achievement Award is for someone who has demonstrated their Heart of Gold throughout their career in rail. This person may be a mentor to others, a supportive figure, or even just a friendly face. Nominees for this award would usually have worked in rail for at least 20 years.
Wellbeing Champion Award – Sponsored by Health Shield
The Wellbeing Champion Award is for someone who always goes above and beyond to improve the wellbeing of those around them. They act as a listening ear for colleagues and are dedicated to uplifting the mental and physical health and wellbeing of others.
Inspirational Volunteer Award
This award recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, compassion, and service by helping others. By volunteering their time and energy, these volunteers make a significant difference in people’s lives.
The descriptions can be used as guidance to help you choose the right category for your nomination. Nominations close on 30th November for shortlisting. Our shortlist for voting will open on 7th October, and the winners will be presented with their awards on 27th November.
