Railpen Volunteer to take on Great North Run For Railway Family

A Fundraising Volunteer for Railway Benefit Fund will take to the streets of Newcastle this Sunday, taking on the 13.1-mile Great North Run in support of the charity’s work for the Railway Family.

Sarah Kemp, Head of Finance Development and Transformation at Railpen who gives up her own time to help the charity fundraise, will join thousands of runners for the annual event, organised by The Great Run Company, in aid of Railway Benefit Fund (RBF).

Volunteering is at the heart of everything the RBF does, and the charity says it is enormously thankful for Sarah’s efforts ahead of the challenge.

RBF has quietly supported railway people and their families since 1858, offering help to those facing unexpected crises,  from financial hardship and illness to bereavement. The charity is funded entirely by donations and operates with a small team, meaning fundraising efforts like Sarah’s make a direct and significant impact.

RBF is also using the occasion to remind the rail community that support is available for anyone going through a difficult time. Those working on the railway, or with family members who do, are encouraged to get in touch with RBF directly.

Sarah will take on the course this Sunday, with RBF urging supporters to get behind her every step of the way.
