Merseyrail and Pete Waterman Celebrate Retired Rail Community

RBF’s Retired Rail Community event was held in Liverpool,  highlighting the importance of those who laid the foundation for the industry today. The event, organised by Merseyrail, saw high spirits and recognition for the veterans who dedicated their careers to the railway.

The event featured an appearance by renowned railway enthusiast and RBF’s President, Pete Waterman OBE, who personally conveyed the invaluable role the retired community plays.

“Our retired rail community are very important to us,” Pete Waterman stated, reiterating that these individuals “gave us the railway industry which we love and care about.” He stressed the necessity of saying thank you to the pioneers who built the infrastructure and traditions of the modern railway.

The event was as a success, providing a welcome opportunity for former colleagues to reconnect and share memories. Attendees praised Merseyrail for their initiative and demonstration of community support.
