Railpen’s Sarah Kemp Completes 2026 Great North Run For RBF

A Railpen employee, Sarah Kemp, has been commended by colleagues after successfully completing the Great North Run on 13 September, raising more than £400 for Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) in the process.

Sarah took on the half marathon as both a personal challenge and support for a cause close to her and her Railpen colleagues. In the lead-up to the event, she spoke about her reasons for choosing the charity, describing the RBF as “a fantastic charity that is close to me and those I work with.”

 Railway Benefit Fund is a small but far-reaching charity supporting current, former and retired railway workers and their families across the UK. It offers a range of services, including financial grants, confidential advice and online tools to help individuals navigate life’s unexpected events. The charity relies entirely on donations and is run by a small team.

RBF praised Sarah’s efforts, with a spokesperson saying fundraising volunteers like her “make all the difference” to the charity’s ability to support railway people and their families.

Colleagues at Railpen have congratulated Sarah on completing the run, and the funds raised are expected to make a significant difference to railway colleagues in need, particularly given the current cost-of-living pressures many face.
