Railway 200’s ‘Inspiration’ Tour at Crewe Station Raises Over £300 for RBF

The tracks of history met the vision of the future on 15- 19 January 2026, as Crewe Station played host to Railway 200’s Inspiration tour, a nationwide celebration marking two centuries of the modern railway.

The event saw 2577 people across the 5 days, turning the bustling transport hub into a vibrant festival of locomotion. Attendees spent the five days immersed in the “past, present, and future” of rail travel, highlighting the industry’s journey from steam-powered beginnings to cutting-edge innovation.

A major draw of the event was the presence of Railway Benefit Fund’s President Pete Waterman OBE, who delighted visitors with a meticulously crafted model railway. The display featured a stunning “mini” version of the Inspiration itself, which became a focal point for families and enthusiasts alike.

Through the generosity of the public and dedication of the RBF team, over £300 was raised for the Railway Family. These funds will go directly toward supporting those within the rail industry community who are in need.

Following the event, the RBF thanked the efforts of the volunteers whose hard work was essential to the success of the event.

As the Railway 200 tour continues its journey across the country, the Crewe stop stands out as a testament to the legacy of the tracks that connect us all.
