Railway Benefit Fund Reveals £2.76 Million Social Value in 2025 Impact Report
Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) gathered supporters on 14 May at Crewe Station, kindly hosted by Avanti West Coast, to share the findings of its 2025 Impact Report. The charity is grateful to all who attended and joined in celebrating this milestone.
The report reveals that RBF delivered £2,757,683 in social value last year, supporting over 500 railway workers and their families across the UK.
A Year of Real Impact
The 2025 Impact Report reflects the breadth of support provided throughout the year, from preventing homelessness and reducing debt to tackling isolation among retirees and helping workers navigate the mounting pressures of modern economic life. Support was delivered through financial grants, confidential advice, digital tools, and befriending services.

Who RBF Is Helping:
One of the clearest findings in this year’s report is who RBF is actually reaching. Two thirds (66%) of those supported in 2025 were current railway workers, and 65% were under 50, reflecting a significant and growing need among people still in the workforce.
Financial pressures are intensifying across the industry. Half of the debt support RBF provided in 2025 went to private renters facing significant rent increases, while the cost of essentials, from energy bills to funerals, continues to rise. RBF stepped in to provide stability at the point of crisis, helping people get back on track rather than fall further behind.
RBF is funded entirely through donations from rail employers, industry partners, individuals, and volunteers. Demand for services continues to grow, and the charity urges the sector to maintain its support.
