Railway Workers Take on Big Half Marathon
On Sunday, October 1st, three railway workers ran the Big Half Marathon in London, raising nearly £1,000 for the Railway Benefit Fund (RBF). Cecilia Cole from Southeastern Railway, Rebecca Jacobs, and Peter Wood from Govia Thameslink Railway took on the 13.1-mile challenge, which began at Tower Bridge and finished at the iconic Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
The money raised will support the RBF’s mission to support current, former, and retired railway workers and their families.
Reflecting on the experience, Peter Wood said, “It was a pleasure to raise money for the RBF, and I would recommend it to anyone!”
Rebecca Jacobs added, “I had a great day running The Big Half and even secured a personal best! I was pleased to raise so much money for such a good cause.”
Railway Benefit Fund encourages others to get involved in future fundraising events. If you feel inspired by the runners’ efforts, reach out to learn more about how you can represent the RBF in upcoming sports challenges.
