The Friends of Wemyss Bay Station Raise £2,000 for RBF This Year

A small station bookshop run entirely by volunteers has helped raise £2,000 for railway workers and their families this year, following a fresh £1,000 donation to the Railway Benefit Fund.

The Friends of Wemyss Bay Station, working alongside ScotRail, made the latest contribution from proceeds generated by their concourse bookshop, a much-loved fixture of the station that has become a genuine community success story.

The group, made up of dedicated local volunteers, recently transitioned to become a Community Interest Company (CIC), formalising their charitable work and cementing the bookshop’s role as more than just a place to browse for a good read. Every sale made at the shop now feeds directly into support for railway people facing hardship.

Members of the public passing through Wemyss Bay are being encouraged to visit the bookshop and support the cause, with organisers noting that every purchase helps fund the charity’s next act of kindness.
