Bid for a unique piece of railwayana in RBF auction
We are delighted that Branch Line Society have announced a charity blind auction for a unique piece of railwayana, with all proceeds donated to Railway Benefit Fund.
The auction item is a brass Drivers Key as used by Head of Train Operations, Mike York, to drive the very first South Western Railway Class 484 after it was delivered to the Isle of Wight. Island Line’s 2-car Class 484 001 was driven in battery mode in the early hours of Saturday 21st November 2020 from Brickfield Siding at Sandown (after delivery of the unit by road) on to Ryde Train Care Depot (adjacent to Ryde St John's Road station). A certificate of authenticity, signed by Mike York, will be provided to add provenance to this unique item.
